          He earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Wheaton College in 1964 and a Master's degree in Philosophy of Education from Northern Illinois University in 1967.

          Teaching and Coaching Career

          For 16 years, Hastert taught history and government at Yorkville High School in Illinois while simultaneously coaching wrestling and football teams.

          He was named Illinois Coach of the Year in 1976 for his success in coaching.
